Dr. Shani Fruchter is a doctor of osteopathic medicine and board certified in general surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery. She is currently working as an acute care and general surgeon at Long Island Surgical PLLC. After studying abroad in Jerusalem, Israel, she received her Bachelor of Arts in History at Yeshiva University in New York City and her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine - Harlem in 2012, from where she earned an award for ‘Excellence in Clinical Years’.
Dr. Fruchter’s post graduate training includes a residency in General Surgery at the Hackensack University Medical Center from 2012 – 2017 in Hackensack,NJ, followed by a fellowship in Advanced Upper GI and Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgery at Florida Hospital in Orlando, FL. In 2019, Dr. Fruchter served as a fellow for Abdominal Transplant Surgery at New York University Langone Medical Center.
Dr. Fruchter is a reviewing editor for BMJ Case Reports, a guest lecturer for the Jewish Orthodox Women’s Medical Association, and she serves as a mentor for the Undergraduate Pre-Health Society for Aspiring Healthcare Professionals at Olami JHealth, located in New York City. Her professional interests include severe acute pancreatitis and her contributions during her time as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at NYU enabled the to be recognized as a National Pancreas Foundation Center of Excellence. In her spare time, Dr. Fruchter enjoys running, crafting and hosting themed dinner parties for friends.
